Arrive with nothing.Become the Boss.

SangoCity is a free open-world game you play in your browser. You land at the airport of a big African city built street by street, with its markets, its boulevards, its river and its bridges — and nobody knows you. Take your first fares, buy your first taxi, make a name quartier by quartier: the road to Boss starts here.

From taxi to Boss

You start with nothing, driving a car that isn’t yours. Every job done well builds your name in the quartier; every rank is earned with what the city knows about you.

  1. The newcomer

Nobody knows you. You drive your route’s car on versement: every day, the owner takes his cut.

  2. The driver

Your first vehicle. The versement stops, and the garage becomes yours.

  3. The one people trust

A quartier where your name counts, three contacts who trust you, a second vehicle and proof of your trade.

  4. Boss of a quartier

Your drivers, your rank, a rival in the next quartier.

  5. The Boss of Sango coming soon

From the river to the airport, every quartier: the city knows your name.

Three roads to the top

Ndongo, Mama Rose and Steve do the same job, each their own way. Choosing who drives is choosing a story.

A city made of real streets

Every road, street name and building comes from OpenStreetMap, the free map made by the people who live there. The market is a few minutes by taxi from the boulevards, and the far bank is waiting at the end of the bridge.

Every job builds your name

Jobs come from real addresses on the map. The bakery sends bread, the hardware store sends cement, the pharmacy sends medicine. Every job asks you to make a choice.

  • Delivery

A parcel from one address to another, in one piece.

The choice Fast and rough, or slow and clean?

  • Shared taxi

Hailed from the kerb — « Akwa, 350! ». Five seats, each rider to their own door, each paying as they get out.

The choice In what order? Their patience won’t wait.

  • Tailing

Follow a car without being spotted.

The choice How much of a gap? A yellow taxi blends into traffic. A Cybertruck does not.

  • Time trial

Gates across the city, and every gate buys back time.

The choice Which line do you take?

  • Cortège

Some days the city hands you a funeral cortège: cars behind you, a pace to hold.

The choice Keep everyone together without dragging.

  • Errand

A market mama sends you for her goods: plantain from the landing, cloth from the other market.

The choice Her price — haggle, or don’t.

  • Porter

On foot, a sack on your shoulder: rice from the market to the shop, cement from the hardware store to the building site.

The choice Fifty kilos — no running. Fall, and the sack falls with you.

  • Errand on foot

A sack to carry to someone in the quartier — sometimes for an elder who can no longer carry it.

The choice In one piece and on time, and your name grows.

  • Call-box run

The call-box sends you running: a message and phone credit to a door in the quartier.

The choice You run, nothing on your shoulder — before the call goes cold.

Eight vehicles, none of them perfect

A vehicle that wins everywhere is not a garage. Each one here decides three things: what you can load, how many passengers you take, and how much you stand out when you’re tailing someone.

Who’s driving?

Three people, three ways of doing the same job. Nobody is best at everything: Steve is fastest on foot, Mama Rose is kindest to the cargo, Ndongo goes everywhere unseen.

The city doesn’t wait for you

SangoCity keeps living when you stop. There is an hour, a weather, a radio, and people on the pavements.

  • A day in 48 minutes

The sun rises over the hills and sets over the river. At night the street lights come on and the streets change.

  • The rainy season

The downpour comes, the road gets wet, the tyres let go. The laterite turns dark red.

  • Get out of the car

Press F: open the door, walk, climb into another vehicle. The last metres of a delivery are on foot.

  • Live radio

MBOA Découvertes plays live on the car radio, on the same clock for everyone.

  • A helicopter at the airport

Climb aboard for a tour of the city, or take the controls yourself.

  • Sound made live

Engine, tyres, wind and street are synthesised from the physics, not played from a file.

Questions

What’s the goal of the game?

To become the Boss of SangoCity. You arrive with nothing, in a car on versement; every job done well builds your name in the quartier. Buy your first vehicle, earn people’s trust and climb the ranks, from newcomer to Boss. Ndongo, Mama Rose and Steve each have their own road. The last ranks, with your own drivers and your own rank, are coming soon.

Is SangoCity free?

Yes. The game is completely free: no account, no purchases, no ads.

Do I need to download anything?

No. SangoCity runs in your browser: open sangocity.com and press Play. A recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) is all you need. You can also add it to your home screen.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes, with touch controls, holding your phone sideways. On a computer, the keyboard gives the best driving.

Are the streets real?

The streets, their names, the buildings and the landmarks come from OpenStreetMap. SangoCity makes them its own city, built for the game; building heights come from Google Open Buildings 2.5D, measured from satellite imagery, and are estimated where there is no measurement.

Which neighbourhoods are there?

Bonanjo and its boulevards, Akwa and its nights, New Bell and its market, Bonabéri on the far bank, and many more, joined by the bridges and the main roads. One city, with no loading screens between neighbourhoods.

What language is the game in?

English. French is there too: open the game’s ☰ menu and pick it under Language — your choice is kept on your device. This site is in English and in French.

Is the game finished?

No — it moves forward every week. The city grows, the jobs change, and everything you see here is taken from the game as it is today.

Who makes SangoCity?

SangoCity is made by the SangoImmo team, for everyone who grew up on the streets of an African city, or who left them.

The city needs a Boss.

One click and you’re at the airport. With nothing, for now.
